The American Experience

Initially, I thought the American Experience was hard work. During the late 1890's many immigrants flocked to Ellis Island to become American citizens, in the hopes of starting a new and prosperous life. However, because there was a large population of immigrants in America now, the vast majority of immigrants were often working in factories and industries where they worked long hours for minimum wage.

Now, I believe that determination is the true American Experience. The immigrants were determined to create a new and better life for themselves and chose to sacrifice whatever was necessary in order for them to reach that ideal lifestyle. Even in modern day society, high school kids strive to get the best grades they are possibly get because they are determined to get into good colleges and further more are thinking about their future. Ultimately, when I define determination, that means that someone is hard working and motivated to reach a certain and attainable goal. That is why determination is the American Experience.
